Keep It Natural // Easter Egg Dyes

Easter is right around the corner! This festive holiday is a great excuse to get crafty. I love putting together inventive Easter baskets for the kiddies AND dying colorful eggs to decorate my house. This year I made beautiful all-natural dyes with vegetables, teas and herbs. The process was super simple and the results are so beautiful and unique. You must give this a try.

All-Natural Easter Eggs

12 Hard-boiled eggs

2 Beets

4 Tbsp Paprika

4 Bags Green Tea

6 Tbsp White Vinegar

For Pink Egg Dye: Cut beets into quarters and boil in 4 cups of water for 10 minutes. Add 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Allow to cool.

For Orange Egg Dye: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Stir in paprika and 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Allow to cool.

For Yellow Egg Dye: Bring 4 cups of water to a boil. Add tea bags and 2 tablespoons of vinegar. Allow to cool.

Submerge the eggs in each mixture rotating occasionally to create unique color patterns. Dye the eggs for at least 2 hours or overnight until you are pleased with the color. Blot dry.

I love to arrange the colored eggs in bowls as a centerpiece on my kitchen counter (I used the beet greens to create a little nest). They also make great healthy snacks and festive additions to any lunchbox. There are tons of other foods and spices that would make great dyes, so check your kitchen for turmeric (yellow), red cabbage (blue), red zinger tea (lavender) — have fun experimenting!
