WELLTH WEDNESDAY // THE GIFT OF HEALTH

Just a couple of weeks ago was my beautiful mom’s 67th birthday and to celebrate I treated her to a day of wellth.

I know my mom — she loves a glass of wine and great food with a view of the ocean, simple enough.  But we always indulging in this same celebratory activity and it really doesn’t have a big take away for her health. Since her birthday is a celebration of her life, I thought we should do something to support and show gratitude to the strong body that carries her through it. Bring on the R & R. We started our day out with a moderate workout (one that would not agitate her injuries), followed by immediate recovery using innovative new technology.

I took her to a new fitness class, at  Iobella in Santa Monica. Iobella’s customized  private 30 minute class incorporated yoga and pilates and resistance bands all in a heated chamber. My mom has lagging injuries because she was hit by a street car in Pittsburgh at an early age. This workout routine was nice and gentle and the heat chamber encouraged opening of tight tissue, detoxification and a oxygenation of cells. Right after the short workout we were treated to 15 relaxing minutes in an oxygen chamber — this encouraged tissue recovery, relaxation and skin rejuvenation. When my mom came out, she had such a beautiful color to her skin and stated she felt very relaxed.

Finally, after Iobella, we headed to Cryo Healthcare to indulge in a Cryotherapy treatment. This ancient use of super cold temperatures (-200 to -240 degrees F) is said to improve a variety of conditions such as psychological stress, insomnia, rheumatism, muscle and joint pain, and various skin conditions. It is a really invigorating process that’s quickly gaining popularity in LA. Cryo Healthcare was first to bring the practice to LA and every time I go there I see a handful of celebrities and athletes.

We finished off our experience with a glutathione shot. Glutathione is the most powerful antioxidant in the body and these shots boost disease prevention, and just about everything else. Mom got shots, shots, shots for her b-day — in a different way.

Don’t worry, we finished off with a cocktail and some great food at @Agorestaurant…

Wellth – next time you think about a gift to someone – how can you mix their likes and wants with a gift that has a positive impact on their health and entire life?
